Transportation in LondonLondon, being one of the biggest cities in Europe has intensive city transportation. The London Underground, well known as the Tube has 12 lines and it is one of the most complicated underground lines in the world. When you see the map first time you will probably get lost but later it all gets clear. Single ticket cost 3 £ but you can always get London card and travel around for less money. Children under 16 travel for 1 £. Travel Card costs from 4.9 £ for a daily card to 41 £ for 7 days card covering zones 1-6 and it is valid for Tube, Buses, Docklands Light Railway and National Rail but not the Heathrow Express. The famous London red double-deckers are now more tourist attraction then way of transportation but still they are doing the purpose and you can get with them anywhere where Tube doesn’t go. Outside central London tube stations are further one from another and you will need bus to fill in the gaps. The day card for buses costs 3.5 £ and it is valid until 4:30 the next morning so you don’t need to worry about extra pay in night buses. Night buses are covering the whole London and since Tube is operating only until midnight this is good way to get home when you are out partying. The Dockland Light Railway is the best way to get to the sights in East London. With it you can reach Canary Wharf, Greenwich and Stratford. Getting to London is quite easy since this city is the main hub for large number of international flights. London has 4 fully operating airports. The biggest one is Heathrow and it seems that there is 5 airports in one place so you have to know from with terminal are you flying from or you will lose your flight. Piccadilly tube line goes to all the terminals and that is the cheapest option to get to the airport. Gatwick, Luton and Stansted are little bit further from the city of London and those are airports that serve low budget flights. Ryanair has its own hub in London, Easy jet also, Wizzair, Airberlin and many more. Gatwick Express is going every 15 minutes from Victoria Station from 5AM to midnight and there is a shuttle bus from Gatwick to Heathrow if you are changing flights. Luton and Stansted have shuttle buses from London Bridge and Liverpool Street. The ride to these airports takes around 45 minutes when the traffic is low. There are also bus services from London to all of these airports. If you are coming on land there is Eurostar train from Paris coming to Victoria station and that is the main station for most trains coming from the big cities. All around UK there is cheap bus company operating called Orangeways and just for couple of pounds you can get to London from Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester and many others.
